Technology has helped us become more productive, connected, and integrated; there is an app for any void that you are trying to fill in your life, so why not put these technological advancements to work for your health and nutrition? I have found three of the best (free!) apps on the market that will help you eat healthier and achieve your nutrition goals. Take the thinking out of being healthy and put #MindOverPlatter.
App Developer: TwoGrand, Inc.
Rating: 4.5 stars (40 ratings)
Description: Rated the #1 Healthy Eating App & Photo Food Diary For Weight Loss, TwoGrand helps you take control of your eating habits and health goals by allowing you to set reminders, share photos, find meals, and track progress while linked to a supportive community with similar interests.
The user interface is very easy to use and understand, the goals that are regulated by the company are organized, while the goals that are created by users are a little more scattered. But you can find any goal that you may want to achieve and a community of members that are working towards the same one. Available on iOS and Android platforms.
App Developer: MyFitnessPal.com
Rating: 4 stars (1206 ratings)
Description: MyFitnessPal is a calorie and diet tracking app with one of the largest food and exercise databases to ensure accurate information and calculation. This app allows you to track water, nutrient, exercise, and weight progress, as well as calculating personalized macronutrient intake based on your goals.
MyFitnessPal’s user interface is impeccable and neat. Ease of data entry and progress charts help keep you on track with your weight loss goals. Features such as the barcode scanner make sure that you are always tracking the correct food item and quantity. MyFitnessPal is also interactive with other apps such as the Apple Health app, Nike Running app, and fitness tracking devices. Available on iOS and Android.
App Developer: Fooducate, Ltd.
Price: Free with in-app purchases available
Rating: 4.5 stars (12 ratings)
Description: Fooducate is the only calorie tracking app that looks beyond the numbers and takes into account personal preferences, dietary restrictions, and health concerns in order to help formulate the correct meal plan and food choices for you. Fooducate is like a personal grocery advisor that helps you navigate the aisles with ease and have confidence that what you are putting in front of yourself (and your family) is healthy. With features like health tracker, food finder, community, healthy recipes, and daily tip, Fooducate leaves little wanting by providing a “one-stop-shop” style app that will help you start a healthier lifestyle now.
The user interface is a mix between your standard budgeting/tracking app and a blog roll within a community. Although highly integrated and connected with a community, the food tracking doesn’t have a very large database which leaves the user to having to input certain data, which can be time consuming.
I hope you find this info helpful and might download one of these apps to help you be successful in your health endeavors!
